Cookie Notice

The short version

Hollow & Headwater sets no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. If you're here to read, our own site doesn't need to store anything in your browser at all.

When one of our editors signs in to manage content, the site sets a single session cookie that keeps them signed in. It's strictly necessary for that private area to work, it isn't used for tracking, and it isn't shared with anyone. It is set only for signed-in editors, never for readers, and it stops working when the editor signs out or after a set period.

Cloudflare's security cookies

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which protects it from bots and attacks. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies, such as __cf_bm, which helps tell people apart from automated traffic, or cf_clearance, which records that your browser passed a security check. These cookies apply only to this site, aren't used for advertising, and don't follow you around the web. They're covered by Cloudflare's own privacy and cookie policies, published on its website.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies. You'll usually find the controls in Settings, under a heading such as Privacy, Privacy and security, or Cookies and site data. You can block cookies for all sites, for third parties only, or for particular sites, and clear them whenever you like. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window that discards cookies when you close it.

Blocking cookies won't stop you from reading anything here. If you block Cloudflare's cookies, you may occasionally be asked to pass a security check again. Editors need to allow the session cookie in order to sign in.

Changes and questions

If we ever change the cookies this site uses, we'll update this notice and its effective date. Questions are welcome through the contact form. For how we handle information more generally, see our privacy policy.
